BASIC RECORDING CONCEPTS

This four week class explores the basics of audio recording and engineering. From microphones to patchbays, gain structure to effects, this course is ideal for beginning recordists. Students learn basic recording techniques, as well as how to go about creating their own studios.

Class size is limited to five students. Four, three hour classes cover the following:

• basics of sound
• mics and preamps
• mixers and the DAW
• patchbays
• gain structure
• mic technique
• principals of mixing
• time based effects
• frequency based effects
• mastering
• building your own studio
• pulling it all together

Students can expect hands on experience as well as instruction catered to their own interests and needs.

Total course price: $400.
